Description:  A ten year old Conrail SD50 idles at the head end of a Union Pacific train. Although this locomotive was delivered in 1986 this locomotive looks like it was recently delivered with only a light amount of dirt on a still shiny carbody.

Title:  SP 4864
Description:  Quite possibly the cleanest locomotive Espee owned at that time. This locomotive was delivered to Louisville & Nashville as GP38-2 4090, the class unit of a ten diesel order in October 1972 which became Seaboard System 4090 then CSX 2600. Sold to Helm as HLLX 2600, this unit got a fresh coat of Helm maroon and blue then joined the SP roster as 4864 with a simple 'SP' on the hood. After the UP merger, this Geep returned to Helm and now works as HLCX 3855 wearing a solid maroon dip job.

Description:  A very hot and humid July forces the crew to prop the front door open for ventilation. In the distance a strong storm will soon dump rain and cool things down but once the sun returns humidity will take vengance on these poor guys. 4700 now has a KCS applied nose light which will be plated over once these fall out of favor with the company.

Description:  This road warrior was delivered to Southern Pacific as SD45 9018 in March 1969 and entered the SP shops for rebuilding emerging as SD45R 7530 in November 1984. By this date both 7530 and Southern Pacific have fallen on hard times as evidenced by the filthy appearance, different numberboard fonts, and dented plow. This locomotive would be rebuilt again moving to Brasil and becoming MRS Logistica SD40-3MP 5311.

Description:  Judging from the shine on the wheels, this diesel has been through the hump a few times. Built in May 1973 as MP 955 then renumbered MP 2106 to UP 2106. Sold to Helm and became HATX 210 she was rebuilt and resold to UP as 1840 and renumbered to make room for the B40-8 to 340.

After the Union Pacific merger this unit was initially assigned UP 5405 but never received this number and instead became UP 1505 on March 30, 2002.
