Description:  Beautiful photo of a 1923 Lima built Mikado with a full head of steam. Eventually scrapped on July 11, 1945. Actual date and location of the photo are unknown. An interesting sidenote came up from Marcus W (see comment below) about this loco derailing in Edwardsville, IL, on 2/21/1942. May have been repaired or just stored before being scrapped 3 years later.

Description:  Pulling up with its string of boxcars is this Baldwin Mikado. Originally built as LEW #5553 in September of 1918, it was acquired by the Nickel Plate in the 1923 take-over. Eventually it was sold for scrap on 8/21/1953 to the Luntz Iron & Steel Co. Date and location are unknown for this photo.

The classic white walled rims of the Nickel Plate seen here are so characteristic and add some elegance to the loco. As with most, it was sold for scrap on 12/28/1955 to Luntz Iron & Steel Co.
