Description:
Nice example of a semi-streamlined Lima 4-8-4 Northern type locomotive built in 1943 as Western Pacific #484 (serial #8020, class 481-GS-64). The mighty loco served the Western Pacific from 1943 to March of 1952. It was sold to Southern Pacific in January of 1953 for parts. The loco was shipped to Sacramento, stripped of usable parts and then scrapped. Specs - 73.5" drivers, impressive 260 psi boiler pressure, 27x30" cylinders, engine weight of 465,100 lb, tractive effort of 65,759 lb. Bill Pennington photo.
