Album Info:
The Belton Subdivision of the Georgetown Railroad Company began its life in the 1880s as a MKT feeder line. In 1961, the Belton Railroad Company purchased the seven-mile Katy track from Smith to Belton, Texas. Interstate 35 cut a swath through the eastern portion of Belton and ended the railroads access to the city and the depot in the center of town. The remaining track east of I-35 was transferred to the Georgetown Railroad Company in 1991. The GRR operated it as their Belton Subdivision for several years but has filed for its abandonment. Update 2010. The Geep and the dump car have now been scrapped
