Description:  BNSF 728 was amongst the last of the warbonnet painted BNSF units delivered outside of the 4700 series...most of these units came with the BNSF small lettering on the cigar band,and the large BNSF lettering on the side,but a few of these units were delivered with Santa Fe lettering on the cigar band and BNSF lettering on the side

Description:  this picture was taken very early on after the merger...the round cigar band was the official corporate logo until the adoption of the swoosh the approximate date of this photo would be early spring of 1997...the 983 was among the first batch of locomotives delivered ine Heritage 1 paint scheme and was delivered in 1996

Description:  This unit was caught in a consist that was stopped for a signal....note the Santa Fe in the cigar band and the BNSF on the flank....this was likely one of the earliest units delivered to the BNSF...a good example of the BNSF paint quirks

Description:  I just caught this unit today sitting in Thayer with a patched BN unit trailing the odd thing about this unit is the loco ID on the flank identified this unit as a GP25...apparently this is going to be the status quo for all BNSF repaints from here on out
