Title:  and I headed straight into the shining sun
Description:  The 2880 is well into Run 7 or 8 to make the 10mph track speed into Artesia yard only to have to set and wait and wait some more. The sun was blazing this late Febuary evening, looking more like a late October evening.

LXVR 2880
Title:  LXVR 2880
Description:  The 80 hoves her cut of 4 to the KCS at C&G Junction (MP. 14.5) before continuing west to Artesia down the KCS. The KCS Tuscaloosa Sub is the line you see to your immediate left. The building you see off in mhe distance is the old Seminole Clothing Company. I wouldn't doubt that at one time that they weren't a customer of the lines original owner, the M&O or GM&O. This line from MP. 17 onwards to Tuscaloosa and Brookwood, Alabama is leased to and operated by Watco's Alabama.

Description:  Just after midnight, the Columbus switcher pauses for a few moments after getting a track warrant from the KCS to head out to the steel mill with 8718 and 1002 having the honors. It was nice to wee 2 units in fairly matching paint banging them around together, doesn't happen often on this line.

The Chattahoochee Bay local
Title:  The Chattahoochee Bay local
Description:  The CHAT local between Dothan and Hilton is oftenused to ferry locomotives between the mechanical shops at Panama City FL, the paint shop at Cedar Springs GA, and to Hilton to be forwarded on to numerous GWI lines in the area. Todays CHAT local has former Luxapella Valley GP38 trailing and enroute to the paint shop at Cedar Springs. This unit spent many years on the nearby GSWR. No doubt it will emerge from the paint shop in the corporate GWI orange/black. As to which road it will be stenciled for, it is anybodies guess.

Former Luxapella Valley unit
Title:  Former Luxapella Valley unit
Description:  Former Luxapella Valley GP38 is seen after some major mechanical work at the former Bayline shops in Panama City FL. It is enroute to the paint shop on the CIRR at Cedar Springs where it will get the GWI corporate orange/black treatment. It spent many years on the GSWR. While at the shops in Panama City it's short hood was lowered. If I remember correctly, this unit began life on the original Norfolk Southern as a low hood unit. When Southern bought the NS they put high hoods on these units. Now the hood has been lowered back to it's original look.
