Description:
H.L. Goldsmith caught this beautifully streamlined 4-8-4 built by Montreal Locomotive Works in June of 1943 now sitting in the dead/scrap line at Stratford, Ontario yard. Once a crack locomotive on express passenger trains, it now waits for the scrapper's torch which came in April of 1960. Specs - serial #68718, U-4-a class, 77" drivers, impressive 275 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine weight of 280,280 lb, tractive effort of 52,457 lb.
