| Description: |
This is the end of the road for Milwaukee Road heavyweight Mikado #331 as it sits in the Proviso IL scrap line. Built by Alco-Brooks in September of 1918 as CM&stP #8624, it was renumbered in 1938 as MILW 331. After nearly 35 years of service, the loco was retired in October of 1953 and sold for scrap to the Kaplan Company. Specs - L3 class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine wt of 320,000 lb and tractive effort of 62,949 lb. This is a Guhr photo. |
