We are aboard one of the former CV GP-9s at Milwaukee Jct. on 2-9-85. Lets see...the diamonds were still in, the tower was still standing, the Houlihan Wye was still in (that is the track that the caboose GTW 79133 [former DTS 133] is sitting on), the GP-9 had not yet been rebuilt or scrapped, D&M Yard was still open, Ryerson Steel was still in business on the Holly Sub and still receiving steel by rail, Chevrolet Gear & Axle and the Chevrolet Forge Plants were still in business and shipping and receiving by rail, and the Chevrolet Gear & Axle boiler house was still receiving coal by hopper and producing its own steam. |
