| One of the interesting thing about the Big 40's was the numbers added on the "B" end of the engine. I believe after the initial order was deleivered from EMD the Black was added to the upper part and brought around. At some point the vertical numbers of the unit were added but this was not always consistent. On my photo of 649 in this album it has no numbers and of course was the last of the big SDP40F's delivered to Amtrak. |
