During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt would travel by train to this station for his sojourns to Hyde Park. The Secret Service preferred this station as the President's train could take the B&O and Reading lines onto the West Shore, a route the Secret Service found safer as it avoided the more congested Pennsylvania Railroad. |
