All retired? Sad sight to see all these old classics being sent off, hope they find another home.

That's really upsetting that no other railroad would buy any of these. I'm all for preservation so if I had any power in the railroad industry, I'd get at least a few of these saved.

THE MRL IS SLOWLY RIDDING ITSELF OF OLDER UNITS AND BUYING NEW LOCOS LIKE THE SD70ACe, THE GEVOS, AND SD70M-2. STILL, IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SOME OTHER CLASS II, OR EVEN A CLASS III RAILROAD WOULD PASS ON OLDER POWER LIKE THESE WERE. SMOKIN' PHOTO, MARK!!!!!!

Sights like this really make my blood boil, put some in museums, restore some, give some to other railroads just don't scrap them. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Good shot and great album. These units were probably already worn out when MRL got them, and the rough Montana terrain probably finished them off.
