Sitting on a siding at the Grand Canyon, this 1919 Baldwin Mikado shines in the afternoon sun but ready to run again. It was a class 3160 with 63" drivers and could generate a respectable 200 pis boiler pressure for its 27"x32" cylinders.The engine weight topped out at 384,400 lb and it could produce a tractive effort of 62,949 lb,.. The class was retired and scrapped between 1950-55. No photographer was identified. |
