The period in the late 70s/early 80s was a transitional one for northeastern commuter operations, as the railroads shed these services, and they were assumed by various governmental agencies. Ex PRR and B&O trains in Washington and Baltimore were no exception. During that time, much of the original owners equipment was used, though it was not always under its auspices. One such train is seen here, a B&O run out to Brunswick MD. MDOT-now MARC-had not really come into its own, and there was a lot of interesting equipment. The B&O GP 9 is a classic, as are the ex B&O car behind it, helping out with the new regime. |
