Unusual 3 holed "rolodex" style partial photo printed on Velox paper with the following info on the back - ""Roll DEV B prints. Hold-pat-album 28C, The Baldwin Studio, St Louis, MO. Winter 1943-44." Ironically the photo is of one of only ten 2-10-4 locomotives for the Bessemer & Lake Erie that wasn't built by Baldwin. It was built by Alco in 1937. Why would Baldwin have a photo of this loco in its rolodex files? Anyone have a clue to this puzzle? The loco was eventually sold to DMIR in 1951. St Louis, MO and winter of 1943 were listed as the dates for this photo. BTW, the RRPA data base does not have a choice for Alco 2-10-4 so this is the reason that it was listed as a 2-10-2. |
