A pair of Conrail GG1's, #4889 in the rear and 4849 in the foreground, sit in a scrap line at the Enola, PA, yard. #3889 was built by the Pennsy Altoona shops and Westinghouse in March of 1940. #4840 was built by Altoona and Westinghouse in April of 1935. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor documented their existence two years after their retirement, still waiting for the scrapper's torch. |
