Seaboard Coast Line E7A 543 was sticking out of the diesel shop at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. This may have been the only time an SCL E-unit visited NOUPT after Amtrak began; although it did happen at least one before, on an Louisville & Nashville football special in November 1970 This locomotive had been built in July 1948 as Atlantic Coast Line 543, and it was among the last SCL E7’s in operation, not being retired until 21 May 1974.
