New Orleans Public Service car 834 was inbound on the TULANE BELT on St. Charles Avenue. It was wearing the window screens that were used on many of the TULANE and ST. CHARLES cars in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. These were used to protect riders from the vegetation along the line, but didn’t last long. Car 834 had been built by the Perley A. Thomas Car Works in 1922 and was scrapped in February 1955. (approximate date of photo) |
