Portraits 2. Here is a steam locomotive portrait via Arthur B. Johnson that was taken in Morris Park, New York, on 1 June 1948. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5717, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during September of 1924 and later leased to the Long Island Rail Road. The wrapped-up headlight and the lack of coal in the tender suggest that this engine has been put in "cold storage," pending future passenger traffic increases. Note the nose of a DD-1 at the far right. (#14 of 36) |
