Built by Baldwin in April of 1919, this long monstrous 2-8-8-2 Chesapeake type Mallet 97,818 lb of tractive effort. This is just what the Reading needed to move unit coal trains. The N1 class was later rebuilt into better suited units. Specs - serial #51715, class N1, 55.5" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" high pressure cylinders, 40x32" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 478,500 lb, tractive effort of 97,818 lb.
