Louisville & Nashville FP7 667 was parked at GENTILLY YARD, on the east side of New Orleans. The locomotive had been built in December 1951 and was one of 10 such units (663-672) equipped with both Automatic Train Control and Automatic Train Stop equipment. (650-662 had ATS only.) ATS was in operation on the line between Mobile and New Orleans from April 1927 until 30 September 1965, and this required specially-equipped locomotives such as this one. The 667 was retired in February 1969. |
