Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Erie, Pennsylvania, c. 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2026 and another "BF" Class unit whose road number is not recorded. #2026 is a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in April of 1952, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in January of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. Looks to me like it's blown a gasket or two! Note the white pigeon, perched on the bridge, observing the action. Produced and distributed by the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society. |
