Here is an image of a photo by Edward Kaspriske that was taken near the Enginehouse in South Amboy, New Jersey, c. 1966. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4231, an EP-20 built by GM-EMD as number "5871" in April of 1949, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and renumbered "4231" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. Also visible here is the concrete coaling tipple, forever obsolete with the passing of the Steam Era. Edward Kaspriske Collection. |
