Baera 3. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at Penn Station in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 5 May 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4942, an E-2B (B-B) electric built by General Electric in June of 1951, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retired in June of 1965 after just 14 years of experimental service. Note the obsolete diaphragm apparatus on the tail end of #4942; its original purpose was to provide safe passage between units. |
