PRR 8613, AS-24M, 1965
Title:  PRR 8613, AS-24M, 1965
Description:  Wye Switches. Here is the sixth of seven successive original photos that I took at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 3 July 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8613 and #8606. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8613 is an AS-24M built in August of 1956, while #8606 is an APS-24MS built in December of 1956. They're serving as tail-end pushers on a 77-car mixed-cargo freight train that's passing through Duncansville on its way up the New Portage Branch line to Gallitzin, where they'll be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignment. The N-8 cabin car is #478214. The PRR's WYE Tower is visible in the left distance. A portion of Duncansville's Second Avenue is visible at the right.
