| Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1960. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5597 and #5595. Both are BS-7M switchers built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as BS-7's in May of 1950, rated at 750 horsepower each, and later rebuilt as BS-7M's. Partially visible in background are several PRR passenger cars marshalled for reconditioning; beyond them are some of the PRR's Passenger Car Shops sandwiched between the mainline passenger tracks and Chestnut Avenue. |
