PRR, One Night at the Wye, #1 of 3, 1965
Wye Switches. Here is the first of three successive time exposures that I took at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 18 September 1965. Implied here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8626, an AS-18M road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in February of 1957 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It's pulling an eight-car mixed-cargo freight train from Altoona to Hollidaysburg. The cabin car is #477184. Photo taken from atop the four-track signal bridge, facing WYE Tower. Visible are light streaks from the headlight of the passing freight train, as well as the headlights and taillights of cars zooming by on US Route 22 at the right.
