PRR Altoona Passenger Car Shops, 1903
WB. Here is an image of an official photo that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in February of 1903. Prominent here is the Pennsylvania Railroad's Passenger Car Shops complex that borders on Chestnut Avenue. In the foreground are several passenger cars awaiting reconditioning, as well as the tracks leading in and out of the Altoona Yards. In the middle distance is the wrought-iron 4th Street Footbridge; SOUTH Tower sits under the Bridge's right end. At the right are the Cabin Car Ready Tracks with numerous "crummies" awaiting their next assignments. William E. Burket Collection.
