Description:
Baldwin built ATSF #1623 as a compound 2-10-2 arrangement in September of 1905 but the loco was simplified in May of 1922 at the San Bernardina Shops. After a total of nearly 48 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap to M. S. Kaplan Company on August 7, 1953. Rebuilt specs - oil burner, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x32" cylinders, engine wt of 317,400 lb, tractive effort of 74,800 lb. Arthur B. Johnson photo
