B&O GP9 5943
Description:
B&O GP9 5943 at Lake Street and Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, October 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Number 5943 was built as C&O 5943 in August 1955 (c/n 20852) on EMD Order 5413, becoming B&O 5943, then Coleton County 5943, then HB 5943. it is seen leaving the C&NW rails at Western Avenue (C&NW's coach yard is in the background) heading south on B&OCT rails. Note the former CB&Q composite hopper in the background to the right, acquired by the C&NW for ballast service.
