Description:
UP U25B 626 and GP30 852 at Denver, Colorado on August 26, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The GP30 was introduced as the GP22, but when GE announced the U25B, GM's Marketing Department decided to one-up GE and changed the model designation to GP30. It was decided that the GP30 had 30 improvements over the GP20, the most significant was the central air intake, doing away with carbody louvers and slightly pressurizing the long hood to keep the dirt out.
