PRR SD7 6950 |
Description: |
Note the Cat(erpillar) 631 load on the flatcar. As written on the slide, PRR SD7 6950 and its twin 6951 were specially-equipped and ballasted for use on the 5.89% Madison, IN grade. They were the only SD7s on the PRR roster and would be passed on to Penn Central and Conrail. No location is listed on the slide, so this is an approximate location. PRR/PC SD7 #6950 |
Description: |
Technically this EMD SD7 switcher marked with Pennsylvania lettering is, at the date in time, now part of the Penn Central roster as 6950. Built in October of 1953 as PRR 8588, it was renumbered, merged into the PC family (#6998), absorbed by Conrail (#6998) and finally scrapped in June of 1985. Unknown photographer caught this loco at the Beech Grove yard in Indiana near Indianapolis. |
