Long ride done
Title:  Long ride done
Description:  A train from Jamaica has completed the 100 mile trip from Jamaica, now arriving at the farthest east place on the LIRR behind a pair of just delivered GP 38s in their original paint scheme. Most of the riders have detrained in the Hamptons, but a few hardy souls made the full run to weekend here at the end of the island.

Snow train
Title:  Snow train
Description:  The Port Washington Branch almost never saw diesel trains in regular service. The one exception was when we had a lot of snow. The winter of 1977-78 was one of those times, with several heavy snowstorms in January and Febrary of 1978. There was enough to get the diesels out, since the third rail was snow covered and the M 1s were not able to get good contact. I caught LIRR 261 about to arrive at the Little Neck station with a connection from Woodside.
